Accessible Website - For People with Disabilities
In Germany alone, several million people live with disabilities or cognitive impairments that often make it difficult for them to do everyday things - including visiting a website.
For example, some people cannot recognise contrasts well or cannot perceive red and green, others have generally poor eyesight and therefore have difficulties with the standard font size, while others are prone to seizures, which can be triggered by animations, for example. Some people with physical disabilities cannot use a mouse and are dependent on other navigation options.
In order to make our website equally accessible to all people, we have revised its design and functionality. Since the beginning of October, you will find a little man in a blue circle on the right-hand side of the homepage: the official symbol for accessibility. If you click on it, a menu opens in which various settings for the display are available. For example, if you indicate that you have difficulty concentrating, the content of the website will be more structured and distractions reduced. In the case of cognitive impairments, certain elements are visually highlighted or, if you are prone to seizures, all animations are deactivated and potentially dangerous colour combinations are reduced. Completely customised adjustments are also possible, such as hiding images, enlarging fonts or setting line spacing more comfortably.
CeramTec is therefore already implementing the requirements of the German Accessibility Improvement Act (BFSG), which will come into force in mid-2025. More importantly, however, it will significantly increase the accessibility of our website and enable all interested parties to visit us.
